What I Look For In A Great Take-Out Joint

While the internet is full of articles imploring you to cook more at home, it’s not always realistic. Often, your lifestyle simply doesn’t support you having to prepare everything from scratch. If that’s you, then it makes sense to find some great take-out joints in your area. But how do you do this? That’s where this post comes into the picture. We look at some of the tools you can use to determine whether you should go to a particular place.

Here’s what I look for:

The “Order Again” Feeling

First, you want to have that “order again” feeling whenever you go to the place. For example, if you get a pizza on a Friday night, you should want the same thing on Saturday and Sunday as well.  You’ll know this feeling when you get it. It’s unmistakable. It means you made the right choice and your mind is luring you to go back.

Contactless Ordering

Another thing I like to look for is contactless ordering. The process should be seamless, especially online. You don’t want to be faffing about with cash and cards if you can avoid it. These days, you should just be able to press and button and get what you want delivered or ready for collection.

Fair Pricing

Of course, there’s also the pricing element. A lot of take-outs are now charging more because of fast food inflation.  Food has become more expensive, but a lot of what’s going on seems like price gouging. Therefore, look for honest take-outs that aren’t passing all the increased costs onto their customers. Try to find operators who are looking to serve regular people in the community.

Quality Food

You also want to look for quality food. There’s a good thin crust pizza near me that always focuses on ingredients and flavor. Steer clear of take-outs that cut corners to inflate their margins. The food and taste quality always suffers, no matter what they might try to do to stop you from noticing.  Usually, you can get good food from take-outs that preserve their margins by insisting you get a drink or add rice to your order. These side elements often mean that they are making a loss on the main course, enhancing quality.

Clean Smelling

Then, there’s the cleanliness aspect. You want to go somewhere that feels clean and smells good. The only scents should be from fresh cooking, nothing else. If it is dank, then that’s a sign that things aren’t quite right. Bathroom smells are a big no-no.

Online Ordering

You also want to look for online ordering options when getting take-out. Sometimes, it’s just too much hassle ringing up and telling them what you want over the phone. It’s always an effort.  These days, it’s much better to use online platforms. You simply click a few buttons and your meal arrives at your door minutes later.  So there you have it: some of the things to look for in a take-out. Which of these matters most to you?
