Rich delicious cream cheese make these chocolate chip scones tender, flaky, and oh so amazing!
Scones are one of my favorite treats to enjoy; they’re moist, flaky and delicious! However, when I added cream cheese to the dough, it gave them a richness that takes them over the top. I added in chocolate chips because I thought it would pair well with the cream cheese, and it definitely does. This scone recipe with cream cheese is definitely my favorite, and I can’t wait to try more flavors like strawberry, apricot, or even a savory scone like cream cheese and chives. You can make these for breakfast, brunch or dessert…enjoy!
Ingredients are as follows:
3 1/4 C flour
1/2 C brown sugar
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
8 ounces cream cheese, cubed
1/2 C butter, cold & cubed
1 egg
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1/4 C cream or milk
1 C chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix the flour, brown sugar, baking powder and salt together.
Add the cubed cream cheese and butter.
Cut into the dry ingredients with a pastry cutter or two forks.
Stir in the chocolate chips; set aside.
Whisk the egg, vanilla and cream together.
Work the wet ingredients into the dry until the dough comes together.
Roll out the dough, onto a floured surface, until it’s about an inch thick.
Cut into squares; take the end pieces and reroll the dough.
Place onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 15-18 minutes; until golden brown.
Serve and enjoy! I drizzled some chocolate on top of a few.
Do you think I could make these the night before and then just bake them in the morning
