Warm & flaky Vanilla Scones drizzled in a delicious Vanilla Glaze, just like Starbucks!
I love coffee, and nothing goes better with it then a warm Glazed Vanilla Scone. I went to Starbucks the other day and had a Vanilla Scone which was quite delicious! So of course I wanted to see if I could make them at home and I’m very happy to say that these were a huge success. I made a batch and within a matter of minutes they were gone with the kids asking for more. They’re not complicated to make and you’ll have everything you need right in your pantry. The glaze makes enough for a drizzle on each scone, but you may want to make a double batch…which is what I did on my second batch because the kids were dipping their fingers into it so much. These are a delicious accompaniment to coffee or tea and the perfect addition to breakfast, brunch or dessert!
Ingredients are as follows:
1/2 C sugar
2 C flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
8 Tbsp. cold butter, cubed
1 (5.3oz.) vanilla or plain greek yogurt
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
glaze:
1/3 C powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease a cookie sheet.
Mix together the sugar, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Cut in the cold butter until it resembles a crumb mixture.
In another bowl, whisk together the yogurt, egg and vanilla.
Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients; mix until slightly combined.
Pour out onto a floured surface and knead until it forms a ball.
Roll out into a circle that’s about an inch thick and cut into 8 pieces.
Place onto the greased cookie sheet.
Bake 17 – 19 minutes; until golden brown on the bottom edges.
While they’re cooling, mix together the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk.
Drizzle the glaze onto the scones.
Serve and enjoy!
