Smooth buttercream surrounded by a delicious layer of milk chocolate!
My family loves Cadbury Creme Eggs, but when they’re not in season they are hard to find. I found an easy way to make them all year and they only require a few ingredients too! These start off with a ready made buttercream cream-center which I made yellow for the yolks and molded some white around it. Then I melted some milk chocolate, dipped the eggs and decorated them with Easter colors. The kids couldn’t get enough of them. These turned out so cute, and they were so easy to make!
Ingredients are as follows:
1 pound buttercream-cream center (I got mine at Chocoley)
yellow food coloring
milk chocolate discs
optional:
white chocolate
sprinkles
colored sugar
Directions:
Take a few tablespoons of the buttercream cream and dye it yellow with a few drops of food coloring. My cream was a little hard to stir so I popped it in the microwave for a few seconds.
Roll into tiny balls; set aside.
Take a spoonful of the white buttercream cream and roll into a ball.
Take your thumb and make a large indentation in the center.
Place the yellow ball (yolk) into the center.
Mold the white buttercream cream around the yolk.
Shape into an egg then set aside.
Place the chocolate discs into a bowl.
Melt in the microwave at 30 second intervals; stirring after each one.
Dip the eggs into the melted chocolate, shaking off the excess.
Place onto a piece of parchment paper.
Decorate however you like…
Serve and enjoy!
YUM! Cadbury eggs are my favorite – this would be a fun treat to make and share with friends.
