Slow-Cooker Apple Pie

One of my husband’s favorite dessert is Apple Pie and I make it quite often!  So when I saw Slow Cooker Apple Pie in a cookbook, I knew I had to try it, however I did change the recipe to his liking.  This recipe can be tossed into the slow cooker and you don’t have to worry about it at all…love that!  Once it was done he had one serving with whipped cream and the other one he put in a bowl with some milk.  He said both were good, but he liked it better with the milk because that’s how he eats his apple pie.  This recipe was so simple to make and a great way to make apple pie if you’re in a hurry!

Ingredients are as follows:

8 C apples (peeled, cored and sliced)
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 eggs (beaten)
3/4 C milk
1 Tbsp. vanilla
1 C sugar
5 Tbsp. butter  (softened)
1 1/2 C biscuit baking mix (divided in half)
1/3 C brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Directions:
Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
Toss the apples, 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon and nutmeg together.
Place these into the greased slow cooker.
Whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, 2 Tbsp. butter and 3/4 C baking mix.
Pour over the apples.
Combine brown sugar, the remaining 3/4 C baking mix and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon together; cut in the 3 Tbsp. butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle over the apples and batter; do not stir!
Cover the top of the crock with a paper towel (this will absorb the moisture), place the lid on and cook on low for 6-7 hours (I checked mine at 6 hours and it was done).  Spoon some out, top with whipped cream (or place in a bowl with some milk) and enjoy!

  1. I tried this one for a work potluck. They have requested it every month afterwards. 🙂
I also made it healthier by substituting Splenda/Splenda Brown Sugar for the sugars and using Almond Milk in place of the regular milk (along with non-dairy egg replacment). We have a girl with special eating restrictions. This still came out wonderfully and they ate more of it knowing it was healthier.

    Thanks for sharing this recipe!!

  5. I made this for the 4th of July – I bought individual vanilla ice cream cups & handed a bowl of the apple pie & one of the cups to everyone. They dumped the ice cream on the warm pie, it melted all over & was DELICIOUS! Very easy and anything made in a crockpot that saves time is even better. This is a keeper!

  8. I have this in my crock pot right now. is it going to come out dry? How exactly do you tell if its done ? It's been 6hours now in the pot-I feel very much like a Magoo right now. Smells good

    1. Mine did not come out dry at all! You can tell if it's done by piercing a fork into one of the apples, if it's soft, then it's done 🙂 When you serve it, put it in a bowl and add some milk to it…delicious!

I loved the slow cooker apple Pie except the topping wasn't crunchy like in a regular oven. Isn't it suppose to be crunchy/crispy? Any suggestions.

  13. Has anybody tried it? I am just wondering if it comes out mushy?

    1. Mine wasn't mushy, but I took mine out at 6 hours. If you wanted it to be firmer you could always check it around 5 hours and go from there 🙂

  14. Making it right niw, for father's day breakfast, i added more cinnamin to the topping mix 🙂 it already smells delicious, i can't wait til morning!
