I’m not really into frying our food so I’m always looking for ways to take fried food and bake them so they’ll taste just as good. The kids love Churros, but I didn’t know how they would taste baked, but I gave it a try anyways. These turned out delicious! Of course they don’t have the exact same crispiness like the fried ones, however they have less grease and they taste every bit as good. They’re a little crispy on the outside and a little chewy on the inside! In fact, they were so good that I can’t really say how many this recipe makes because the kids were eating them as fast as I took them out of the cinnamon sugar mixture!
Ingredients are as follows:1 C water
1/2 C margarine
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 C flour
3 eggs
Ingredients are as follows:1 C water

1 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
1 C flour
3 eggs
cinnamon & sugar to coat
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees; grease cookie sheets.
Place water, margarine, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla into a pot.
Bring up to a boil, remove from heat and add the flour.
Stir until a dough forms.
Add eggs in one at a time and mix until combined (this is after one egg).
Keep mixing until a thick paste forms (this is after three eggs).
Spoon dough into a pasty bag and pipe 6″ strips onto the cookie sheet.
Bake for 18-20 minutes; until golden brown around the edges.
Immediately remove from pan then toss into cinnamon sugar mixture.
Take a bite and enjoy!
Is it ok to use butter instead of margarine? Kindly advise..thanks! =)
yes it is 🙂
Thanks atleast this time i can enjoy to cook churos and no more greasy&/oily. my Kids will enjoy this.
I FOUND THIS RECIPE, IT REALLY SOUNDS SO GOOD AND YUMMY! AND YOU'VE MADE IT
SOUND PRETTY EASY TO WHIP UP A BATCH AND NOT DIRTYING A WHOLE LOT OF DISHES! CAN YOU SURE A ZIPLOC PLASTIC BAG, INSTEAD OF A PASTRY BAG????
Thank you! I'm sure you could use one, however I wouldn't squeeze too hard!
I stay away from fried food as much possible but this looks excellent as a baked version! Pinning it!
