My kids love the pretzels from the mall. So when I saw this recipe on Allrecipes I knew I had to give it a try. They turned out delicious! I was really surprised at how easy they came together, but even more surprised at how much they tasted just like the ones from the mall. Now we can have them whenever we want…which they’re already asking for more!
Ingredients:
recipe adapted from Allrecipes
1 package active dry yeast
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
1 1/2 cups warm water
1 tsp. salt
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups warm water
2 Tbsp. baking soda
spray butter
cinnamon & sugar, optional
salt, optional
Directions:
Mix the warm water and brown sugar together. Stir in the yeast and let stand for about five minutes.
In another bowl mix the salt and flour together.
Add the yeast and water mixture to the flour and mix for 8 minutes (it may look like there isn’t enough liquid, however just continue to knead and it will come together; do not add more flour. This is done best in a mixer rather than by hand).
Place in an oiled bowl; turn to coat the top (I forgot!).
Allow to rise until doubled in size. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Roll dough lengthwise and cut into twelve pieces.
Take each piece and roll it out thinner, (I did mine about 12 inches, but next time I’ll roll them out to about 18 inches).
Twist it up into a pretzel shape, repeat with remaining dough.
Mix together the warm water and baking soda. Dip the pretzel in.
Then place it onto a paper towel to absorb the excess water.
Place onto a greased cookie sheet.
Bake in preheated oven for 8-10 minutes; until golden brown.
Spray with spray butter and sprinkle on cinnamon/sugar or salt.
Take a bite and enjoy!
I love those! Thanks for passing along the recipe.
I LOVE pretzels! Must try this!!
Pretzels at the mall are a weakness of mine! We have made them from a kit before, but this way looks fabulous and a lot more cost effective than the kits! I am going to save this and make them! YUM!
I've always wanted to try homemade pretzels. These look fabulous! Going to have to try these!
This looks so good! we don't have pretzels like that here, which is a shame!
