Fun Foodie Experiences You Can Do This Year

If you are a foodie, then the chances are that you are always on the lookout for fun, new things to try that are centered around this. After all, if you can learn more and combine your love of something at the same time, then what could be better? Food experiences are great as they are something that you can enjoy on your own if you would prefer, or also can be sociable too. Whether this is in the form of actually doing the experience with someone else, or just sharing your creation with them later in the day. It could also be something that you decide to give as a gift – the choice is up to you! So no matter if you are after something fun to do solo, a foodie activity to do with your other half, or you just want to brush up on some culinary skills, we have put together a plethora of options that are guaranteed to be good fun! Grab your apron, a camera to take plenty of pictures on, and just focus on having fun! Here are some top fun foodie experiences you can do this year…

  • Go wine tasting

Wine tasting is a brilliant experience to do and while it is technically more about drinking than eating, is still very related to a foodie experience! There are many ways that you can do a wine tasting experience. You could head to a dedicated venue that offers it, such as a bar, or you could do it at home through a virtual event. There are many companies that can send you the bottles and tasting notes to your home for you to enjoy. You could also connect up to a live tutorial or event that can talk you through the wines as if you are there. If this doesn’t take your fancy and you want an immersive and knowledgeable experience, why not head to a vineyard? This way you can see every step of the winemaking process from grape to bottle – some even let you crush them yourself with your feet (but this is more a tourist attraction than to help them make wine!) You can learn about what wine goes with what types of food, find new wines that you like – and also have great fun along the way. Just make sure you have a lift there and back as you can’t drive after this activity!

  • Do a foodie road trip

Perhaps you have a real love for Italian food? Or have always wanted to try some authentic paella? Maybe Mexico’s burritos and nachos have been your calling? No matter the type of food that you love, why not take a dedicated road trip for food? You can head to the destination you want to immerse yourself in and either rent a car or hear around by food to try some of the best places that you can find. If you head to main cities such as Rome or Barcelona which are very tourist heavy, you are going to want to head off the beaten path to find the real foodie gems. There are also places such as Genoa in Italy which are much less mainstream and have some beautifully authentic restaurants that you can try. Immerse yourself in the brilliance of the food in the location you have visited – and don’t forget to leave them a good review on TripAdvisor if you can! If you are heading to Europe, why not try out a couple of destinations at the same time? You could go from eating fresh pasta in Italy to sampling some of France’s top delicacies, to indulging in Portuguese dishes all within the same trip.

  • Learn all about how coffee is made

If you are a coffee lover, you probably have a favorite coffee that you like to drink. You can appreciate the taste and the flavors and most likely can’t function properly in the day ahead without it. While this might be the case, it could be that you haven’t considered quite where coffee comes from and this is something you want to learn. If so, there are many opportunities that you can do so. In a similar way that you can go wine tasting, you can also do this with coffee. There are roasteries or venues that you can visit that show you the whole process from planting the bean, to roasting it, to how it gets to our homes. They will also likely give you different coffees to try such as colombian coffee which you can also buy to take back with you.

  • Do a cookery class

Even if you are a great cook, there is something that is so fun about a virtual cookery class. It is a chance to get sociable and meet others that are just as interested in cooking and food as you are. This is a fun thing to do either solo or on your own and like with other experiences can be something that you do in person or not. You can either head to a dedicated kitchen or cookery school, or you can do it virtually. If you do it virtually, the school will normally send you a kit beforehand which details if there are any ingredients or equipment you need to purchase and also a link to join on the day. If you go to an actual school, you shouldn’t need to buy anything as it should all be provided. There are a host of different classes you can do, from bread making to learning to make national dishes from certain countries. Do your research and find the best one for you.

  • Host a dinner party

These are just a few great fun foodie experiences that you can do in 2021. Why not try a different one every other month? Or get one for a friend or family member for their birthday? No matter how you decide to enjoy these food experiences, they are sure to be ones that you won’t forget.
