I absolutely love my readers! I have met so many wonderful people over the years and have formed so many new friendships as well. One of the things I love most are the recipes that you share with me, and the stories that go along with them. I cherish each and every one! So when I was talking to Stephanie before the holidays she mentioned that she had an amazing Caramel Frosting recipe that was given to her from her co-worker Mary Lou. Well the holidays have come and gone and I am just now getting around to making it. I am so happy that I did because it is delicious!
3/4 C butter or margarine
1 1/2 C packed brown sugar
1/3 tsp. salt
1/3 C milk
3/4 tsp. vanilla
3 3/4 C powdered sugar
Directions:
In a saucepan over low heat, melt butter or margarine.
Stir in the brown sugar and salt. Cook 2 minutes; stirring constantly.
Add milk and continue stirring until it comes to a full boil.
Remove from heat; set aside. Place the powdered sugar into a mixing bowl.
Add vanilla and slowly mix the butter mixture into the powdered sugar.
Beat until fluffy (add more powdered sugar if it’s too runny or milk if it’s too thick).
Spread onto your favorite cake (we put it on Wacky Cake) and enjoy!
and Mary Lou Powell for sharing this delicious recipe, it is greatly appreciated!
I love EVERYTHING caramel! I think this would be perfect on a Wacky cake! Or just by the spoonful!! Thanks for sharing!!
