Fruit & Honey Shortbread Tart

 

 

I absolutely adore Sunday brunch. There’s something so special about cooking a big meal, sitting down together, and making memories with the family. It’s a tradition I hope my kids will always remember. Once we’ve finished our savory dishes, we love to refill our coffee or tea and end the meal with something sweet. The perfect dessert has to be easy and delicious—something I can whip up while making the rest of the meal without extra stress.

That’s why I was so excited to discover the new Smucker’s Fruit & Honey Spreads at Walmart. Naturally sweetened with honey, these spreads offer a simple way to add fresh fruit flavor to recipes. I picked up a jar of the Triple Berry and knew instantly what I was going to create for our next brunch: a buttery, delightful shortbread tart. It’s perfectly sweet without being overwhelming and makes for the ideal ending to a wonderful meal.

 

Ingredients are as follows: 

1 1/2 C flour
1/2 C powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 C butter, cold
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2-3/4 C fruit spread  

Directions: 

Preheat oven to 350 degrees; get a 9″ pizza pan or tart pan ready.

Mix the flour, powdered sugar, and salt together.

Cut in the cold butter until it’s mixed in, it’ll be crumbly.

Knead the dough by hand (in the same bowl).

Knead until the dough comes together and forms a ball.

Press 3/4 of the dough into the pan.

Bake 8-10 minutes; until slightly brown.  Remove from the oven and evenly spread on the Fruit & Honey Spread.

Crumble the remaining 1/4 dough on top.

Bake an additional 18-20 minutes; until golden brown on top.

Allow to cool.  Slice, serve and enjoy!
