I love simple recipes and these cookies are as simple as can be; you take five ingredients and turn them into something delicious. The first time I made them they went so fast that I had to make another batch the next day! These would make a great addition to your holiday baking…or anytime of year.

Ingredients are as follows:
1 cup butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 C powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 C all-purpose flour
powdered sugar (to roll the cookies in)
Directions:

Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Whip the butter and vanilla together.
Gradually mix in the powdered sugar; mix in the salt and flour.
Pinch off small pieces of dough; place on ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 11-13 minutes; slightly brown around the edges.
Immediately remove from cookie sheet and cool on a wire rack.
Before serving, roll in powdered sugar.
Take a bite and enjoy!

I know the recipe calls for all-purpose flour. Could I substitute that with self-rising? I know to omit salt
I've never tried it, but I think it will work just fine.
any kind of nuts, coconut, dried cranberries…. any of these can be added…
even a chocolate chip hidden in the middle.
I've made these for over 40 years and ALWAYS delicious!
I've even had friends say their gift of a dozen never made it home …all eaten in the car !

This may sound silly but….do you use salted or unsalted butter? 🙂
The recipe calls for unsalted, however you can use salted; you would just omit the salt in the recipe then 😉
